About the position

The Propulsion Analysis Engineer at Spirit AeroSystems is responsible for researching, developing, analyzing, designing, and testing propulsion systems for various aircraft. This role involves applying engineering and scientific principles to ensure product design and performance meet industry standards. The engineer will focus on air-breathing propulsion analysis techniques and methods, contributing to the design and optimization of vehicle propulsion systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct icing prevention or ice shedding analysis and design.
  • Apply physics and thermodynamics to advanced materials for subsonic and supersonic air vehicles.
  • Utilize software tools to model ice mass predictions of anti-ice systems in airplane structures and systems such as wings and nacelles.
  • Familiarize with gas dynamics equations and principles, gas turbine engine operation, and CFD analysis.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exhibit self-starter qualities with high levels of resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; or 0 to 2 years of experience with a Master's degree.
  • US citizenship or Permanent Resident.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in the use of CATIA and Patran/Nastran.
  • Knowledge of CFD, Aerodynamics, and Thermocouple Instrumentation.
  • Experience with Icing Wind Tunnel tests.
  • Interest in conducting ice prevention or ice shedding analysis and system design.
  • Interest in thermal analysis of aircraft structures.
