The Propulsion Build Engineer role at SpaceX is a critical position responsible for developing build processes, tooling, and designs that facilitate the high-rate manufacturing of vehicle fluid systems. This role requires significant collaboration with both design and build teams, ensuring that the integration of propulsion systems into the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles is executed efficiently and effectively. The engineer will engage closely with the physical builds and installations, driving the development of manufacturing processes that enhance the overall production capabilities of the team. In this role, the Propulsion Build Engineer will be involved in the fabrication of various pressurized components and systems. This includes designing tooling for assembly, welding, and part fixturing, as well as developing processes for welding, tube bending, pipe fitting, and large structure integration. The engineer will also be responsible for creating pressurized test setups, working with cryogenic fluids, and executing testing and data reviews. As the build progresses, the engineer will oversee integration operations sequencing and collaborate with technicians to install flight-critical hardware on the vehicle. This position may also require the engineer to act as a de-facto supervisor, guiding production technicians, welders, and other skilled labor partners in achieving high-quality results. Overall, the Propulsion Build Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring that SpaceX's ambitious goals of enabling human life on Mars are met through innovative engineering and manufacturing solutions.
