About the position

The Propulsion Development Engineer I, Component Test at Relativity Space is responsible for supporting the development and testing of propulsion systems for the Terran R launch vehicle. This role involves both hands-on testing of propulsion components and systems engineering tasks, contributing to the design, testing, and integration of engine subsystems. The engineer will work closely with product owners to develop test plans, execute test campaigns, and troubleshoot engine subsystems, playing a crucial role in the continuous development and certification of the Aeon R engine systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Responsible Engineer for various propulsion test articles such as combustion devices, valves, and heat exchangers.
  • Develop test plans and execute test campaigns in collaboration with the Stennis team.
  • Evaluate test hardware behavior to support continuous engine development and certification.
  • Support engine subsystem troubleshooting and partner team product investigations.
  • Take ownership of projects to increase collective efficiency.
  • Participate in stage test and flight campaigns as the vehicle development program progresses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field.
  • 1+ years of experience in a complex engineering system development and/or test environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
