About the position

The Propulsion Engineer III at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in the design and development of combustion devices for rocket engines and spaceflight systems. This position involves overseeing the complete product life-cycle of combustion devices, ensuring safety and repeatability in space flight, and contributing to the company's vision of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The role requires a strong technical background and a commitment to quality and safety in human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop combustion devices including injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, and igniters.
  • Manage the complete product life-cycle of combustion devices from initial requirements through flight qualification.
  • Support manufacturing and testing processes, including performing test data reviews and processing non-conforming hardware.
  • Write technical reports related to combustion device performance and development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, chemical, or physics desired).
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a related field.
  • 1+ years of Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience.
  • Solid understanding of a variety of combustion devices.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with data analysis and data processing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in engineering or higher.
  • Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluids, thermodynamics, and combustion analysis.
  • Knowledge of the entire combustion devices life cycle from design to production.
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10.
