As a Propulsion Engineer III, you will be part of a hardworking team of engineers dedicated to designing and developing combustion devices such as injectors, chambers, nozzles, thrusters, and igniters for various rocket engines and spaceflight systems. This role is crucial as it directly impacts the history of space exploration, requiring your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. You will be responsible for the complete product life-cycle of combustion devices, from initial requirements through flight qualification. This includes design, manufacturing, test support, performing test data reviews, processing non-conforming hardware, and writing technical reports. A solid background in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics is essential for success in this position. You will report directly to a Combustion Devices Manager within the Engines business unit, and your technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality will be vital in positively impacting safe human spaceflight. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop combustion devices for rocket engines and spaceflight systems.
  • Manage the complete product life-cycle of combustion devices from initial requirements through flight qualification.
  • Conduct design, manufacturing, and test support for combustion devices.
  • Perform test data reviews and process non-conforming hardware.
  • Write technical reports related to combustion devices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics desired).
  • Solid understanding of a variety of combustion devices.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a related field.
  • 1+ years of Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with data analysis and data processing.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in engineering or higher.
  • Strong technical fundamentals in propulsion, fluids, thermodynamics, and combustion analysis.
  • Knowledge of the entire combustion devices life cycle from design, development, qualification, acceptance, and production.
  • Experience with Creo (Pro/E) Wildfire 5 or greater, Windchill 10.
