As a Propulsion Engineer I specializing in turbomachinery, you will be part of a team dedicated to designing, developing, manufacturing, and testing rocket engines that will enable the next generation of human space travel. Located in Huntsville, AL, the Rocket City, you will work alongside a diverse team of hardworking turbomachinery engineers, contributing to the development of America's next-generation booster engine and advanced launch systems. You will have the opportunity to see these engines come to life just minutes away from our production and engineering facility in Research Park, where you can help design, fabricate, and assemble them. Your role will encompass all aspects of turbomachinery and rocket engine development, production, and operation. You will own turbomachinery hardware throughout the entire product lifecycle, taking a quick and efficient approach to designing and refining our turbomachinery systems to improve both capability and reliability for our launch vehicles. Your efforts will help make our products better, faster, and stronger, ultimately expanding human access to space.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop turbomachinery systems for rocket engines.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Support the manufacturing process by providing engineering insights and solutions.
  • Analyze data to assess component health and performance.
  • Participate in the testing and validation of turbomachinery components and systems.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical component design and manufacturing.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design principles and proficiency in GD&T.
  • Knowledge of hardware fabrication and quality control.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of experience in aerospace or similar manufacturing environment with hands-on experience supporting a manufacturing shop floor, assembly area, or test facility.
  • Experience with turbomachinery specific to rocket engine applications.
  • Knowledge of cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility.
  • Experience with CAD and/or FEA modeling for turbomachinery components.
  • Understanding of rocket turbopump architecture and fluid dynamics.
