About the position

As a Propulsion Engineer specializing in Merlin Turbopumps and Injectors at SpaceX, you will leverage your engineering expertise to innovate and enhance manufacturing processes for critical aerospace hardware. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment to support the production of engine sub-assemblies and ensure the reliability of propulsion systems that are essential for launching satellites and human spaceflight missions. You will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing discrepancies, developing new processes, and collaborating with various departments to deliver high-quality hardware on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day production of Falcon, Merlin engine sub-assemblies, and engine integration.
  • Analyze recurring manufacturing discrepancies and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Develop new and evaluate existing manufacturing processes and equipment to reduce non-conformance frequency/severity and costs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on manufacturing processes and their impact on test and launch operations.
  • Identify and execute design-for-manufacturability improvements for system-wide enhancements.
  • Communicate and coordinate with production, machining, maintenance, quality, and design engineering departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or STEM discipline.
  • 1+ years of mechanical design and/or hands-on manufacturing experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials, or industrial engineering.
  • Experience designing work procedures for aerospace hardware.
  • Experience with aerospace welding systems (e.g. electron beam, TIG).
  • Experience with non-destructive testing/evaluation methods.
  • Knowledge of metallic manufacturing techniques and equipment.
  • CAD and DWG experience (NX & Teamcenter a plus).
  • Production tooling design experience.
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
