About the position

The Propulsion Engineer position at Oceaneering Space Systems involves supporting NASA's JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. The role focuses on Power and Propulsion Projects, contributing to human spaceflight and deep space exploration programs. The engineer will be responsible for solving complex problems, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and collaborating with a diverse team to meet and exceed standards and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Support NASA JSC EP4 Branch.
  • Provide knowledge in component and system certification and understand the impacts of component design and operating environment on certification.
  • Assist national and international customers for Gateway and International Space, visiting vehicles, and Commercial Crew customers.
  • Design and develop major elements of ground test and space flight systems for propulsion and fluid systems utilization.
  • Write technical and progress reports covering assigned tasks for other technical groups and agencies.
  • Resolve unique or novel problems related to Propulsion Subsystems.
  • Support flight Anomaly Resolution review and In-Flight Investigation review, solving propulsion questions with limited information.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Experience in the design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space propulsion systems and components.
  • Experience coordinating space propulsion systems requirements verification and validation between multiple organizations.
  • Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in mechanical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, testing, and office software.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in engineering and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NASA JSC Engineering Life Cycle process protocols.
