About the position

The senior-level systems engineer will support the Propulsion Acquisition Division at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, focusing on aircraft propulsion systems. This role involves system design, development, integration, and testing, providing subject matter expertise for various aircraft engines used by the US Air Force. The engineer will engage in technical planning, system integration, and effectiveness analyses to ensure comprehensive solutions that meet customer requirements while adhering to technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Conduct system analysis at all levels including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies.
  • Apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles to enhance innovation and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the System Engineering life cycle including requirements development, architecture development, and system verification.
  • Employ various testing, analysis, and modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.

Requirements

  • 15 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 13 years with a Master's; 10 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, implementing, and reporting on Systems Engineering activities related to propulsion.
  • Experience in aerospace design development processes including design, analysis, testing, and integration.
  • Ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Must possess a Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, Enterprise Architect, and/or Rhapsody.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB, PYTHON, and other programming languages.
  • Knowledge of engine test facilities and capabilities within the U.S. Air Force or industry.
  • High-Speed Airbreathing propulsion experience.
  • Solid rocket propulsion experience.
  • Multidisciplinary Design, Analysis, and Optimization experience.
