As a Propulsion Engineer specializing in Turbomachinery, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, manufacturing, and testing rocket engines that will enable the next generation of human space travel. This position is based in Renton, WA, where you will join a diverse team of hardworking turbomachinery engineers dedicated to paving the way for future spaceflight. In this role, you will take ownership of turbomachinery hardware throughout the entire product lifecycle, from design to testing, with the goal of improving capability and reliability for our launch vehicles. Your responsibilities will include driving the design, production, and testing of turbomachinery for various spaceflight systems. You will utilize your strong design knowledge and mechanical design fundamentals to guide and mentor teammates while making significant contributions to the entire design cycle of turbomachinery. Additionally, you will be involved in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product and process quality. Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of turbomachinery hardware throughout the entire product lifecycle, from design to testing.
  • Drive design, production, and testing of turbomachinery for various spaceflight systems.
  • Utilize strong design knowledge and mechanical design fundamentals to guide and mentor teammates.
  • Contribute significantly to the entire design cycle of turbomachinery.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product and process quality.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 5+ years proven track record in production, manufacturing, and assembly of turbomachinery components.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware fabrication and quality control.
  • Solid understanding of rotating machinery component design and manufacturing including turbines, impellers, cases, bearings, and seals.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and post-processing to assess component health.
  • Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to effectively distil issues and effectively communicate complex technical data at a high level.
  • CAD and modeling experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with quality management systems supporting aerospace and propulsion-related hardware.
  • Experience transitioning products from development to production.
  • Experience with product production, qualification testing and flight operations.
  • Ability to effectively lead multi-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with turbomachinery specific to rocket engine applications.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility.
  • FEA modeling experience.
