About the position

The Propulsion Engineer at General Atomics is responsible for designing, analyzing, testing, and integrating aircraft propulsion systems, including piston engines and related components. This senior-level position requires extensive engineering experience and offers the opportunity to lead innovative projects that directly impact customer success. The role involves collaboration with various teams, troubleshooting propulsion-related systems, and contributing to the development of new engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, analysis, testing, integration, manufacturing, and fielding of aircraft propulsion systems.
  • Determine annual and multi-year technical objectives for designated engineering systems or projects.
  • Oversee and assist in the completion of program deliverables such as component designs, test plans, and analysis documentation.
  • Troubleshoot various propulsion-related systems including piston engines and fuel systems.
  • Act as a prime technical expert for assigned systems or projects.
  • Advise or direct activities of assigned projects to achieve technical objectives.
  • Direct and allocate technical resources and professional staff to achieve objectives.
  • Develop new and/or expand existing business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting and safety standards.
  • Participate in the planning and development of professional staff.
  • Publish and present technical papers and participate in technical program reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, thirteen or more years with a master's degree, or ten or more years with a PhD.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and application of engineering principles and project leadership.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four years of experience related specifically to diesel engines.
  • Experience working with CREO, Windchill, NX, and Teamcenter.
