Transportation Equipment Manufacturing

About the position

As a Propulsion Manufacturing Engineer II at Relativity Space, you will play a crucial role in the engine manufacturing department, which is dedicated to producing high-performing products and manufacturing systems. The department focuses on continuous innovation in cost, quality, and lead time, supporting the Terran R program through cross-functional collaboration and a strong emphasis on safety. Your primary responsibility will be to own and develop processes for processing additive and machined components that will be integrated onto the Aeon-R engine. This position requires you to serve as the main point of contact between the manufacturing and design teams, optimizing the Aeon-R architecture and scaling manufacturing operations effectively. In this role, you will be expected to thrive in a startup environment, demonstrating organization and the ability to drive projects to completion amidst ambiguity. You will need to possess the passion and tenacity to tackle challenging issues unique to 3D printed and machined components. Your familiarity with a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment will be essential, as you will work hands-on with hardware and collaborate with multidisciplinary groups. You will ensure that as-built hardware meets all aspects of the intended design, focusing on manufacturability and integration. Additionally, you will develop processes and procedures for post-processing of 3D printed parts and recommend design adaptations to enhance reliability and throughput. Your role will also involve managing relationships with external suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of hardware. The Propulsion Manufacturing team has achieved significant milestones, including the manufacturing and testing of engine components and subassemblies, and your contributions will be vital in continuing this momentum as we prepare for our first launch.
