About the position

The Propulsion Project Engineer role at Axient involves providing full life-cycle support to the United States Space Forces' National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program. This position focuses on designing and developing plans, processes, and procedures related to rocket and spacecraft propulsion systems, ensuring successful launches through assessments and analysis of propulsion components.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop plans, processes, procedures, and functional and data requirements analysis for complex systems.
  • Support customer acquisition functions including requirements development and cost/technical/schedule/performance reports.
  • Perform systems engineering functions such as requirements definition, design review, test review, risk management, and post-flight analyses.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support Engineer Review Boards and program reviews.
  • Perform technical and engineering data management, including data mining and reporting.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders including USAF System Program Offices, Aerospace Corporation, and Launch Vehicle Contractors.
  • Prepare weekly evaluations and technical reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field.
  • 8+ years of related experience in Aerospace.
  • Experience in solid and/or liquid propulsion design, test, procedures, and anomaly resolution.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering functions from requirements development through post-flight reporting.
  • Experience in customer interactions with USAF, SMC, DCMA, NASA, NRO, and subcontractors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and IT systems.
  • Current DoD secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in preparing and giving presentations to senior engineers and management.
  • Knowledge of Launch Vehicle propulsion interface systems.
