About the position

Cirrus Aircraft's Mission is to deliver an aviation experience that is the pinnacle of innovation, quality, and safety to our customers. The Propulsion Systems Engineering Intern will work on new projects involving both the SR2X and SF50 platforms. The Systems Engineering team works on several aspects of the aircraft; the area of work for a Systems Engineering Intern could include CAPS (Cirrus Aircraft Parachute System), Mechanical Systems, Pneumatics Systems, Ice Protection System, Powerplant Installation, and Fuel Systems. This internship will be onsite in Duluth, MN from May 2025 through August 2025. The intern will work directly with the Product Development Team, which includes Engineering, Experimental, Flight Test, Airworthiness, and others to create engineering deliverables. Possible work includes development test plans; engineering work orders; engineering analysis; CAD modeling and drawings; or test instrumentation/test article preparation. This position reports to one of the three functional managers in Systems Engineering, either Mechanical Systems, Propulsions Systems, or Pneumatics Systems. Cirrus Aircraft aims to create an internship and co-op program that provides a meaningful and valuable experience for students, while also fulfilling the needs of the organization. The program includes networking events, professional development opportunities, and concludes with the opportunity to present work to senior leadership. Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Product Development Team to create engineering deliverables.
  • Develop test plans and engineering work orders.
  • Conduct engineering analysis and prepare CAD modeling and drawings.
  • Prepare test instrumentation and test articles.

Requirements

  • Upper division student within two years of graduation.
  • Pursuing an Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering Degree with completed courses in Statics & Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Calculus, Technical Writing, and 3D CAD Design.
  • General knowledge of common mechanical tools and their purpose.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment with a positive attitude.
  • Professionalism in working with others and integrity in following through on commitments.
  • Punctuality in arrival times and acceptable attendance record.
  • Responsiveness to management direction and diligence in completing tasks on time.
