About the position

The Prospect Research Analyst at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in supporting fundraising efforts by developing and implementing prospect research strategies. This position involves identifying and evaluating potential donors, analyzing wealth indicators, and presenting research findings to inform donor strategies. The Analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders and maintain a strong understanding of ethical practices in handling sensitive information. The role is fully remote, requiring occasional travel for meetings and training.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement prospect research strategies to inform donor strategies.
  • Identify and evaluate potential donors, assessing wealth indicators and affinity to TNC's priorities.
  • Conduct sphere of influence analysis and map donor interests to organizational goals.
  • Present biographical research and recommendations to Development leadership and executives.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of systems and procedures related to prospect research and ethical information handling.
  • Collaborate with development operations staff and fundraisers as a consultant and thought partner.
  • Stay updated on trends in wealth, philanthropy, and conservation to enhance team offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in principles and practices of prospect research and management.
  • Proficiency with current resources and technology in prospect research.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data, preparing donor briefings, and generating reports.
  • Experience working across departments and with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience.
  • Knowledge of current trends in prospect research.
  • Experience researching principal gift-level prospects and conducting wealth analysis in a non-profit environment.
  • Training in fundraising principles and practices.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills with attention to detail.
