About the position

The Prospect Research Analyst at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's fundraising efforts by conducting in-depth prospect research. This position involves developing and implementing strategies to identify and evaluate potential donors, ensuring that the Conservancy can cultivate its largest and most strategic donors effectively. The Analyst will work collaboratively within the Global Prospect Development team, reporting to the Associate Director, and will be responsible for presenting research findings and recommendations to Development leadership and other executives. The role requires a strong understanding of fundraising principles, data analysis, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive prospect research to identify and evaluate potential donors.
  • Develop and implement strategies for donor identification and engagement.
  • Analyze data to assess donor wealth indicators and affinity to TNC's priorities.
  • Prepare and present biographical research and recommendations to Development leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in wealth, philanthropy, and conservation.
  • Ensure ethical handling of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Contribute to team training and documentation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in prospect research and management principles.
  • Proficiency with current resources and technology in prospect research.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.
  • Experience preparing donor briefings and generating reports.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-lingual skills and cross-cultural experience.
  • Knowledge of current trends in prospect research.
  • Experience researching principal gift-level prospects in a non-profit environment.
  • Training in fundraising principles and practices.
  • Experience with database management.
