About the position

The Prospect Research Analyst at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's fundraising efforts by conducting in-depth research on potential donors. This position involves developing and implementing strategies for prospect research, evaluating donor pools, and providing actionable insights to inform donor strategies. The Analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders, present research findings, and maintain a strong understanding of ethical practices in handling sensitive information. This role is fully remote, requiring occasional travel for team meetings and training.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct prospect research to identify and evaluate potential donors.
  • Analyze donor data to inform fundraising strategies and create a robust donor pipeline.
  • Present biographical research and recommendations to Development leadership and other executives.
  • Collaborate with development operations staff and fundraisers across the organization.
  • Maintain knowledge of systems and procedures related to ethical performance and confidentiality.
  • Stay updated on trends in wealth, philanthropy, and conservation to enhance team offerings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in principles and practices of prospect research and management.
  • Proficiency with current resources and technology in prospect research.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, prepare donor briefings, and generate reports.
  • Experience working across departments and with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Multi-lingual skills and cross-cultural experience.
  • Knowledge of current trends in prospect research.
  • Experience researching principal gift-level prospects and conducting wealth analysis in a non-profit environment.
  • Training in fundraising principles and practices.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills with attention to detail.
