About the position

The Prospect Research Analyst at Kim Joyce Associates LLC plays a crucial role in identifying and analyzing funding opportunities for various clients, including nonprofit organizations and educational institutions. This position involves conducting in-depth research to match client needs with potential funders, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of grant processes, and supporting team members in their funding searches. The analyst will also be responsible for developing annual grant calendars and training new staff, ensuring that the organization meets its mission of helping clients secure necessary funding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of client missions and programs to find suitable funder opportunities.
  • Stay updated on funder giving criteria, grant processes, and online application portals.
  • Identify and analyze federal and local government opportunities and create grant opportunity summaries.
  • Subscribe to funder emails and inform team members of significant changes.
  • Support team members in conducting weekly grant funding searches as needed.
  • Conduct specialized research for new and current clients.
  • Update the Weekly Grant Opportunity spreadsheet and distribute it to facilitators.
  • Participate in the New Client Onboarding process and maintain communication with clients.
  • Develop each client's annual grant calendar.
  • Locate various grant opportunities using assigned databases.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership on special projects and requests.
  • Conduct New Employee Orientation for new hires.
  • Develop funder profiles for corporate and foundation opportunities.
  • Train and mentor additional prospect research staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-4 years' grants prospect research experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (advanced degrees preferred).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to research and evaluate a prospect's financial status and alignment with client missions.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with funders in Arizona is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Grant-specific training and/or grant writing experience.
  • Experience with Instrumentl or Foundation Directory Online.
