About the position

The Prospect Research & Data Analyst at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) plays a pivotal role in shaping and supporting the Development team's data-driven strategy. This position is designed to foster a data-fluent culture within the division, ensuring that data insights are effectively utilized to drive decision-making processes. The analyst will demonstrate strong project management skills and professionalism, working both independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve success. As a strategic partner, the analyst will provide critical data-driven insights that aid in prospect identification, wealth screenings, data analysis, and the creation of comprehensive prospect research profiles. This role is essential for the overall success of the Advancement team, contributing to the development of sustainable and diverse pipelines for annual, leadership, major, and principal gifts. Typical responsibilities include developing methodologies and reports, conducting high-level research using various public and proprietary data sources, and analyzing data to assist with Development planning and projections. The analyst will also manage wealth screening initiatives, oversee the ResearchPoint Database, and collaborate with internal partners to ensure effective data integration and analysis. This position requires a proactive approach to managing portfolios and tracking fundraiser progress, as well as the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for targeted solicitations. The analyst will also be responsible for maintaining donor qualification and retention metrics, ensuring that the Development team is equipped with the necessary information to succeed in their fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop methodologies, reports, research, analytics, visual aids, and aggregations of data to identify new prospects and prioritize current donors.
  • Design and implement prospect management and fundraiser performance metrics tracking procedures and strategies in partnership with the leadership team.
  • Analyze data and create reports to assist with Development planning and projections, including campaign readiness assessments and gift potential of prospect pools.
  • Conduct high-level research using a broad spectrum of public and specialized proprietary data sources.
  • Retrieve, organize, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate a prospect's financial capacity, ability to give, willingness to give, and philanthropic interests.
  • Proactively partner with the Director to create and manage portfolios and track fundraiser's progress.
  • Manage wealth screening initiatives by querying, segmenting, reporting, and analyzing results.
  • Oversee ResearchPoint Database, develop best practices and standards, and run batch screenings.
  • Execute annual Data Analytics screening and work with internal partners for data integration.
  • Track, maintain, monitor, and report on donor qualification and retention, prospect meetings, and solicitations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions, or six years of directly related full-time experience.
  • Professional experience in data analytics and/or prospect research.
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to synthesize data into clear information.
  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Donor research and analysis experience in a higher education fundraising environment.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising databases.
