About The Position

The Prosthetic Representative (Supervisor) at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for managing the prosthetic, sensory aids, and home care equipment programs within the VA Medical Center. This role involves providing support to enhance the health and independence of Veterans through various services, ensuring compliance with national policies, and overseeing procurement and budget management for prosthetic services.

Requirements

• One year of creditable experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in a related field.
• Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology.
• Ability to research, analyze, comprehend, and apply decisions.
• Basic knowledge of inventory management procedures.
• Proficiency in computer software for word processing and database management.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Adaptive Automotive Equipment and Home Improvements programs.
• Experience with Clothing Allowance and Service Dog Pet Insurance Programs.

Responsibilities

• Manage prosthetic and sensory aids programs for the VA Medical Center.
• Authorize procurement of prosthetic and orthopedic appliances and their repairs.
• Plan, develop, and prepare budget estimates for the prosthetic program.
• Inspect and evaluate artificial limbs and custom-fitted devices for replacements.
• Draft and implement local organizational policies consistent with national guidelines.
• Complete contracting and procurement assignments for prosthetic devices.
• Monitor contracts for compliance with service requirements.
• Conduct data analysis to prepare reports regarding prosthetics and sensory aids.
• Counsel patients and work with clinical teams to resolve conflicts.
• Provide training to PSAS employees and participate in public relations activities.
