About the position

The Prosthetist and/or Orthotist Clinician at Hanger, Inc. is responsible for providing comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care to patients, leveraging clinical expertise and innovative technologies. This role involves assessing patient needs, formulating treatment plans, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient mobility and quality of life. The clinician will work in a supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth and development, while adhering to clinical guidelines and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians in evaluating patient needs for prosthetic and/or orthotic services.
  • Examine and evaluate patient needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
  • Formulate designs for prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Select materials and perform cast measurements and model modifications.
  • Perform fittings, including static and dynamic alignments.
  • Evaluate and adjust prosthetic and/or orthotic devices for fit and function.
  • Instruct patients on the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Identify and resolve issues to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Provide follow-up care with patients and physicians.
  • Conduct in-service training for physicians and allied health care professionals.
  • Utilize effective materials management and quality processes.
  • Meet with referral sources to enhance business relationships.
  • Plan and implement strategies to meet revenue targets.
  • Document detailed clinical notes in patient records.
  • Mentor residents or newly certified clinicians as needed.
  • Assist other clinical staff and provide information for reimbursement activities.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current board certification in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • A baccalaureate degree in prosthetics and/or orthotics, or the foreign equivalent, and current ABC Board-Eligibility in Prosthetics and/or Orthotics.
  • A valid driver's license and driving record within Hanger's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain state licensure where required.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in providing prosthetic and/or orthotic services under supervision if not certified.

Nice-to-haves

  • Thorough understanding of biomechanics, pathomechanics, gait analysis, kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Effective communication skills for oral and written presentations.
  • Ability to instruct clinical and non-clinical personnel.
  • Good interpersonal skills for building professional relationships.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
