About the position

Dominion Energy is seeking motivated engineers to join their Electric Transmission-Substation Engineering department, specifically within the Protection and Control Design team. The role involves developing and maintaining substation electrical, mechanical, and control drawings, focusing on the high voltage electric grid system. Candidates will work on creating protection and control design engineering packages for various substation projects, collaborating with multiple engineering teams to ensure comprehensive design development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop protection and control design engineering packages for Electric Transmission and Electric Distribution Substations.
  • Create and modify protection and control design documents and drawings for substation projects.
  • Coordinate with Physical Substation Engineers, Protective Relay Settings Engineers, Communications Engineers, and others to develop the protection and control design package.
  • Assist project management teams in developing the scope of work and design requirements for substation engineering projects.
  • Independently develop system protection design packages for complex projects.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Substation Physical Engineering or Substation P&C Engineering for Engineer II.
  • 5+ years of experience in Substation Physical Engineering or Substation P&C Engineering for Engineer III.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role with a preferred Bachelor's Degree for Engineering Technical Specialist II.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role with a preferred Bachelor's Degree for Engineering Technical Specialist III.
  • Thorough understanding of transmission lines, distribution feeders, and major substation components.
  • Experience with electromechanical and microprocessor-based protection and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and various engineering drawings.
  • Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Electric Utility preferred.
  • Knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
  • Competency in applying engineering principles and practices.
