About the position

The Protection & Controls Engineer at Chen Moore and Associates (CMA) will be responsible for managing engineering projects related to electrical safety and control systems. This role involves technical coordination with clients and stakeholders, proposal preparation, and leading engineering activities such as substation design and relay settings calculations. The position emphasizes teamwork, quality commitment, and effective communication, contributing to CMA's mission of community service and professional excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Project management.
  • Proposal preparation.
  • Project and budget coordination.
  • Perform Technical Coordination with Clients/Prime consultants and external stakeholders.
  • Preparation of proposals and scope development for conceptual designs and execution plans.
  • Engineering/project cost estimates and schedules.
  • Lead efforts for the execution of physical substation design and protection/control design.
  • Conduct relay settings calculations for studies and reports.
  • Prepare equipment specifications for procurement and/or factory acceptance testing.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor less experienced engineers and team members.
  • Support in marketing pursuits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
  • Proficiency with Electrical Safety Code and IEEE / ANSI Standards.
  • Experience with CDEGS and ASPEN.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency, project responsibility, and initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
