About the position

The Provider Compensation Analyst plays a crucial role in providing compensation consultative services for both employed and independent contracted providers within the Erlanger Medical Group. This position is designed for a full-time remote employee who will engage closely with leadership teams in Provider Recruitment, EMG Operations, and the EMG Business Office. The primary responsibilities include conducting thorough analyses of compensation design and benchmarking, evaluating physician productivity, assessing fair market value, and managing contract reviews. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for interpreting, analyzing, and implementing compensation arrangements as outlined in Provider Employment Agreements. They will manage various components of the annual and bi-annual provider contract review process, which involves preparing productivity reports, making recommendations for salary adjustments, and gathering and analyzing data to assess incentive goal achievements. Additionally, the analyst will participate in and complete annual provider compensation and productivity surveys, collaborating closely with external appraisers and consultants to ensure that all proposed compensation plans are fair and commercially reasonable. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, as the analyst will partner with Provider Recruitment and Operations teams to address business and operational challenges. They will also work alongside the EMG Business Office, providing backup support to the EMG Financial Analyst in calculating provider incentive compensation and variable compensation, as well as managing uploads to Payroll. This role is essential for ensuring that compensation practices align with the system's standards and support the overall mission of Erlanger Health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compensation consultative services for Erlanger Medical Group employed and independent contracted providers.
  • Conduct benchmarking and data analysis to formulate compensation recommendations.
  • Interpret, analyze, and implement compensation arrangements as stipulated in Provider Employment Agreements.
  • Manage components and participate in the annual/bi-annual provider contract review process.
  • Prepare productivity reports and provide recommendations on salary adjustments.
  • Gather and analyze data to determine incentive goal achievements.
  • Participate in and complete annual provider compensation and productivity surveys.
  • Collaborate with external appraisers/consultants for fair market value analysis.
  • Partner with Provider Recruitment and Operations teams to solve business and operations issues.
  • Serve as backup to the EMG Financial Analyst for calculations of provider incentive compensation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, finance, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in health/hospital administration, business administration, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of finance or compensation experience required.
  • Two years of physician or provider compensation experience required.
  • Solid understanding of physician billing and productivity measures (CPT, wRVU, Charges, Collections, etc.) required.
  • Two years of experience in a hospital or healthcare-related environment required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
