About the position

The Provider Operations and Business Development Manager at LSAC plays a crucial role in advancing the organization's mission to promote law and justice by fostering relationships within the legal education ecosystem. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with various providers, including licensees, consultants, bar prep providers, and third-party tool providers. The manager will oversee the entire provider lifecycle, which encompasses sourcing, contracting, performance evaluation, and issue resolution. This role is pivotal in identifying new business opportunities, developing proposals, evaluating business plans, and negotiating agreements with potential providers. Additionally, the manager will proactively research and identify intellectual property (IP) violations and work towards resolving them. Success in this role requires excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, along with a strong customer service mentality. A solid understanding of the software industry, particularly in onboarding new clients to software solutions, is essential. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines is critical. A key aspect of this position is the ability to create win-win situations for both LSAC/LawHub and the providers, ensuring mutual satisfaction and business growth. The manager will also be responsible for developing and maintaining long-term relationships with various providers, ensuring consistent contact and timely resolution of any questions or issues. This includes generating leads, creating proposals, negotiating agreements, and monitoring provider performance. Collaboration with internal teams, such as sales, marketing, product, and engineering, is necessary to coordinate provider activities and align goals. The role also involves conducting market research, developing operational systems for licensing business operations, and preparing reports on provider performance and satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with licensees, consultants, bar prep providers, and other providers to ensure mutual satisfaction and business growth.
  • Maintain strong relationships with providers through consistent contact and timely resolution of questions or issues.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, generating leads and prospects, and creating proposals and presentations.
  • Develop opportunity models that are the basis for a strong relationship with the provider.
  • Negotiate agreements with providers, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the Office of General Counsel on matters related to development of agreements, as well as agreement compliance by providers.
  • Monitor and evaluate provider performance and quality, providing feedback and resolving issues as needed.
  • Lead trademark usage request reviews working in collaboration with the Office of General Counsel and Marketing.
  • Develop and execute intellectual property enforcement actions in collaboration with the Office of General Counsel.
  • Manage the software onboarding process for new providers, providing training and support, and ensuring smooth integration and adoption.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as sales, marketing, product, and engineering, to coordinate provider activities such as technical integration or promotional activities while aligning goals and expectations.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to manage communications to providers from the LawHub team including regular general updates and distribution of newsletters and release notes.
  • Conduct market research and analysis, staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and competitor strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor operational systems and processes for license inquiries, license execution, and licensing business operations.
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for the licensing program including licensing pipeline, compliance, and IP enforcement.
  • Manage the distribution of licensing subscription reports and other provider revenue reporting to Finance.
  • Develop and maintain the LawHub Provider CRM database.
  • Prepare and present reports and metrics on provider performance, satisfaction, and revenue.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field or equivalent working experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in vendor management, business development, or a similar role.
  • Experience in the software industry, preferably with software as a service (SaaS) product.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
