About the position

The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSR) Family Service Worker (FSW) position is dedicated to strengthening the health, safety, and independence of Idaho's children and families. This full-time role involves assessing and processing referrals related to child abuse or neglect, conducting interviews, and developing case plans to support clients. The position is based in the Lewiston Field Office and may offer telework options after successful completion of probation and training.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and process referrals for child abuse or neglect.
  • Conduct assessment and fact-finding interviews to obtain and assess the mental, physical, economic, employment, environmental, and social status of clients/families/caregivers.
  • Prepare written intake reports based on interview information to determine substantiation of referrals.
  • Make on-site evaluations of foster homes for suitability of facilities and service providers for licensure/certification.
  • Design, organize, implement, and monitor effectiveness of case plans using community resources.
  • Facilitate client access to support services.
  • Complete need and risk assessments on cases and determine eligibility for services and level of care.
  • Carry a full caseload in child welfare.
  • Develop appropriate safety plans for children addressing special needs of clients.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team staffing to modify treatment plans.
  • Prepare case record notes attesting to engagement with clients and results from specific services.
  • Prepare court reports, affidavits, and testimony for required court proceedings.
  • Determine appropriate client placement and ensure least restrictive environment.
  • Provide emergency, crisis intervention, and after-hours on-call service.
  • Engage in client counseling, social services, support, and change-oriented activities to preserve the family unit.
  • Design and apply varying treatment modalities for problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of human services principles and practices including behavioral management methods, social and family systems, cognitive behavioral education, and case management methods.
  • Certification as a psychosocial rehabilitation specialist in accordance with USPRA requirements, or a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, behavioral science, special education, psychosocial rehabilitation, or healthcare from a nationally accredited university or college.
  • 2-4 upper division courses in relevant fields and 2-4 years of work experience, or equivalent experience that represents the knowledge level above.
  • Computer literacy for data entry, electronic mail, composing reports and letters, and storing and retrieving documents.
  • Valid driver's license.
