About the position

The PSU (Med-Surg) RN position at the Surgical Hospital of Oklahoma is a full-time role focused on providing professional nursing care for post-surgical patients. The RN will work day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., participating in patient care, performance improvement activities, and maintaining a safe and effective environment of care. The role emphasizes professional development and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients according to medical and nursing plans of care.
• Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
• Participate in identifying clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities.
• Assist in performance improvement activities and perform related duties in a timely manner.
• Maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources.
• Engage in professional development by maintaining required competencies and seeking educational opportunities.
• Support the development of other staff and formal learners.
• Communicate the organization's vision, mission, and values.
• Observe hospital, nursing, and departmental policies and procedures relating to safety.
• Complete Annual Hospital Core Competency Verification and Annual Nursing Competency Verification.
• Obtain instruction and supervision when implementing new or unfamiliar techniques or practices.
• Respond correctly to emergency procedures and report incidents to the Department Manager.

Requirements

• Oklahoma RN License
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• PALS Certification (preferred)
• 2 years of nursing experience, preferably on a med/surg floor with post-surgical patients
• Experience in ortho preferred, emergency department experience helpful but not required.
