About the position

The Psychiatric Aide 3 (Mental Health Technician) position is responsible for providing direct care to clients in a residential facility focused on substance use treatment. This role involves implementing therapeutic techniques and supporting clients in a 24-hour care environment. The position is classified as WAE (When Actually Employed) or PRN (as needed), limited to 1,245 hours in a 12-month period, and includes shift differential compensation based on hours worked.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to clients receiving substance use treatment in a residential facility.
• Perform continuous observation of clients and take vital signs.
• Conduct room checks and collect urine drug screens as ordered by medical staff.
• Ensure clients adhere to schedules for labs and clinical appointments.
• Maintain documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Monitor and audit chart orders and check MD orders nightly.
• Prepare documentation for clients with special dietary needs.
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure quality care.
• Drive clients as needed and work alternating shifts.

Requirements

• Eighteen months of experience in psychiatric patient care or in providing care to the developmentally disabled, physically disabled, or chemically dependent individuals.
• College training with at least six semester hours in education, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, child guidance, or nursing can substitute for experience.
• A Mental Health Aide Diploma from an approved vocational technical college can substitute for part of the required experience.
