About the position

The APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) at White Sands Treatment Center of Tampa, LLC is responsible for providing direct patient care services within the scope of their APRN License. This role involves collaboration with other members of the treatment staff and operates under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director. The APRN is expected to support the facility's policies, rules, and regulations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory bodies and agencies. The position requires the individual to provide both medical and psychiatric care, contributing to the overall medical quality management of the facility and offering guidance to treatment staff members as assigned by the Medical Director. In this role, the APRN will perform a variety of tasks including medical assessments, health and physical examinations, psychiatric consultations, and medication management services for patients being evaluated for or admitted to the facility. The APRN will also be responsible for ensuring the appropriateness of initial patient admissions and continuing patient care through the application of accepted practices. Additionally, the APRN will provide after-hours on-call coverage to coordinate emergency medical or psychiatric responses for facility patients as needed. The APRN will participate in interdisciplinary staff meetings to coordinate and review patient care delivery, provide in-service education for facility employees, and engage in performance improvement and utilization review activities. The role also includes conducting peer reviews, formulating and reviewing facility policies and procedures, and developing a community resources network to ensure a continuum of care for patients upon discharge. The APRN will work closely with facility executive and clinical staff on matters related to facility development and major policy issues affecting patient care delivery. Furthermore, the APRN is responsible for completing all necessary documentation in a professional and timely manner, being available for consultations with patients and their families, and ensuring compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Psychiatric/medical knowledge base as a resource for the design and implementation of clinical activities as designated by patient's individualized multidisciplinary treatment plan.
  • Performs medical assessments, health and physical examinations, psychiatric consultations, medication management services and other direct services for patients being evaluated for and/or admitted to the facility as assigned.
  • Assure appropriateness of initial patient admissions and continuing patient care through application accepted practices as an APRN.
  • Provide after hours on-call coverage to coordinate any emergency medical or psychiatric need responses for facility patients as assigned.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staff meetings on a weekly basis or more frequently as required to coordinate and review the delivery of patient care.
  • Provide in-service education for facility employees, as indicated and assigned.
  • Participates in facility performance improvement and utilization review activities.
  • Conducts peer review as assigned.
  • Participate in the formulation and review of facility policy and procedures as assigned.
  • Participate in the formulation of a community resources network to assure a continuum of care for patients upon discharge from the facility as assigned.
  • Work with facility executive and clinical staff on matters of facility development and major policy issues relating to the delivery of patient care as assigned.
  • Assure completion of all APRN documentation, to include progress notes, orders, assessments, and discharge summaries; in a professional, legible and timely manner in keeping with APRN practice standards.
  • Be available for consultation to patients; their family members; and their significant others at the facility; per established terms of agreement.
  • Complete facility provided APRN credentialing applications on forms provided by the facility.
  • Provide on-site APRN services at facility, per terms of established agreement.
  • Develops and implements action plans, as needed, to correct problems or issues identified.
  • Complies with required hours in accordance with contract agreement.
  • Collaborates with the Infection Control Nurse/Director of Nursing regarding Infection Control issues and findings.
  • Abides by all safety/risk, infection control, and other guidelines as required.
  • Assists in ensuring State and Federal regulations, and JCAHO standards are met and maintained.
  • Coordination and delineation of above noted and additional APRN services to be managed and supervised through ongoing contact with the facility's Medical Director, Administrator, Clinical Director, and Director of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited APRN program, recognized by the State of Florida; and maintains compliance to State of Florida issued continuing education requirements.
  • A minimum of two-year experience in hospital based or outpatient medical practice setting, serving in a APRN role with medical and psychiatric care.
