About the position

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Program Manager at Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of medical staff while providing psychiatric services to adults and children enrolled in mental health services. This role combines clinical responsibilities with program management, ensuring adherence to clinical standards and fostering a collaborative team environment. The position also involves direct patient care, medication management, and the development of treatment plans, alongside leadership and mentorship of medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of medical staff, including medical assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners.
  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and medication management services to enrolled consumers.
  • Provide psychiatric services to individuals in intensive treatment and outpatient services.
  • Work in conjunction with crisis services to direct care needs of consumers receiving crisis stabilization services.
  • Evaluate consumers potentially in need of psychotropic medication and prescribe accordingly.
  • Educate consumers on the benefits and risks of prescribed medications.
  • Order and evaluate laboratory tests for appropriate medical and psychiatric care.
  • Consult with clinical staff and outside physicians for psychiatric or medical management of clients.
  • Ensure accuracy of psychiatric diagnoses and assessments conducted by Mental Health staff.
  • Provide education and training to clinical staff regarding diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication use.
  • Document all clinical activities in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Implement and enforce clinical standards, protocols, and evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new medical staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of medical staff, providing feedback and coaching.

Requirements

  • ARNP, MD, or DO and Psychiatric Board Certification required.
  • Minimum of one year experience with direct patient care in psychiatric services required.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role highly preferred.
  • Electronic Health Records documentation skills (EHR).
  • Good interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide service in a culturally competent manner.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of team management/supervision.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
