About the position

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at The PANS Center is responsible for diagnosing and treating neuropsychiatric neuroimmune disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. This role involves a combination of traditional psychiatric knowledge and emerging insights into neuroinflammation and psychiatric illnesses. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and their families, ensuring effective treatment plans are implemented and followed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform trauma-informed psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with neuroimmune neuropsychiatric conditions.
  • Support caregivers in implementing the patient's treatment plan alongside therapists.
  • Complete EMR and patient documentation in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely scheduling, prior authorizations, prescription refills, and processing of laboratory test results.
  • Share emergency call coverage with colleagues.
  • Participate in staff meetings and educational offerings regarding neuroimmune neuropsychiatric illnesses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish best practices in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Train other clinicians in neuroimmune neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Engage in community education and research related to neuroimmune neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment and respect patient rights.

Requirements

  • Current Commonwealth of Massachusetts APRN license.
  • ANCC board certified for PMHNP-BC or PMHCNS-BC.
  • Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances Certifications.
  • Experience with both children and adolescents is preferred; experience with young adults is desired.
  • Desire to learn about and treat neuroimmune neuropsychiatric illnesses.
  • Ability to integrate psychopharmacology with therapy in patient treatment.
