About The Position

The Psychiatric Technician Level 1 at Pine Rest plays a crucial role in providing physical and emotional care to clients with mental illness and developmental delays. This position involves working under general supervision to ensure a safe environment, participate in crisis intervention, and assist with personal care. The technician is part of a dedicated team focused on healing and empowerment, contributing to the overall well-being of clients in a supportive and diverse workplace.

Requirements

  • Completion of a minimum of six months post high school education in behavioral sciences or equivalent is preferred.
  • CNA certification or one to two years of college education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides a safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individual and group settings.
  • Collaborates in day-to-day planning/development of person served programming and implementation of programs.
  • Assists persons served with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene.
  • Actively participates in safety management, crisis intervention, and prevention.
  • Surveys, documents, and reports all safety repair and maintenance needs.
  • Performs household duties such as cleaning, cooking, and laundry.
  • Drives and escorts persons served to community outings and appointments.
  • Documents all progress notes, medication administration, and relevant information.
  • Monitors for and reports any potential risks to persons served safety.
  • Conducts random and scheduled drug testing and searches of persons served and their belongings.
  • Completes reports and paperwork as needed.
  • Assists in teaching persons served/family social skills and coping techniques.
  • Role models the mission and values of the organization through appropriate social behavior and problem solving.
  • Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to persons served.
  • Learns and helps accomplish treatment plans and goals of persons served.
  • Performs basic office duties including answering phones and filing.
  • Assists in training new staff.
  • Supports and promotes a recovery-focused environment and person-centered approach.
