About the position

The Associate Chief of Staff for Mental Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for overseeing the Mental Health Service Line within the Cheyenne VA Healthcare System. This role involves leadership in clinical practice, program management, and human resource management, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the efficient operation of the service. The incumbent will provide independent assessments and recommendations on policy and operational issues, manage complex professional services, and coordinate care delivery for Veterans.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Mental Health Service Line within the Cheyenne VA Healthcare System.
  • Manage resource allocations and ensure efficient operation of the organizational unit.
  • Provide leadership and independent assessments for policy and operational issues.
  • Plan, assess, and evaluate programs to ensure coordination of care for Veterans.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Advise leadership on policy implications and recommend courses of action.
  • Prepare special reports and responses for medical center leadership.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and performance standards for the service.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and manage staff responsibilities.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. state or territory.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program leading to board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Psychiatrist with leadership and clinical experience of 5 years or greater.
