About the position

UNM Medical Group, Inc. (UNMMG) is seeking a Psychiatrist, who will be based out of UNM's Behavioral Health Clinic in beautiful Rio Rancho, NM. This position offers a part-time day-shift schedule of 0.2-0.5FTE. Under indirect supervision, the Psychiatrist will provide and manage direct health care for a specified patient population, focusing on individuals aged 18 and up with psychiatric illnesses, substance use disorders, and chronic health conditions. The role involves evaluating and managing behavioral health care plans, conducting 45-minute new patient visits and 30-minute follow-up visits, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team that includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, clinical social work, and peer support. The Behavioral Health Clinic aims to provide accessible behavioral health care to the Sandoval County community, coordinating care with integrated behavioral providers at the neighboring Sandoval Regional Medical Center and Grande Primary Care Clinic. The Psychiatrist will have the opportunity to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in their area of expertise, while also developing and presenting educational programs or workshops. The position requires effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities

  • Provide and manage direct health care for a specified patient population.
  • Evaluate and manage behavioral health care plans for patients aged 18 and up.
  • Conduct 45-minute new patient visits and 30-minute follow-up visits.
  • Supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
  • Develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care with other health care providers and community resources.
  • Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

Requirements

  • Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, including residency in a directly related medical specialty.
  • State of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification.
  • Medical Specialty License or Certification.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in specified area of medical specialty.
  • Verification of education and licensure will be required if selected for hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in providing care to pediatric patients.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
