About the position
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking psychiatrists to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to a diverse population, including geriatric and post-deployment combat veterans. The role involves performing evaluations, therapeutic interventions, and managing care for patients with psychiatric and substance use disorders. Opportunities for hybrid work are available, allowing for up to two days of telework per week.
Responsibilities
- Perform psychiatric and substance use disorder evaluations for veterans.
- Provide outpatient care via face-to-face and telehealth methods.
- Work with the Emergency Department and provide coverage to Med/Surg units.
- Cover across various mental health programs, including inpatient, outpatient, and domiciliary services.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and treatment planning for veterans with psychosocial issues.
- Visit veterans in-person or via telehealth for home-based primary care.
- Provide intensive case management services for seriously mentally ill veterans.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with a full and unrestricted license from any US State.
- Board certification in psychiatry is preferred but not mandatory.
