About the position

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) for Lundbeck in Charleston, SC, is responsible for leading and managing a high-performing sales team focused on promoting products within the psychiatry portfolio. This role involves setting strategic direction, developing tactical sales plans, and coaching team members to achieve sales goals while fostering a collaborative team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage a diverse sales team to achieve sales goals for promoted products.
  • Set and lead the development of area strategic direction and tactical sales plans using analytical skills.
  • Observe Account Manager interactions and provide coaching, feedback, and inspiration.
  • Establish a collaborative team culture demonstrating personal accountability and teamwork.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing Account Managers.
  • Guide the identification of local market systems of care and provide innovative solutions.
  • Identify strategic relationships valuable to the area's business.
  • Ensure Account Managers can craft effective Managed Markets selling messages.
  • Set and maintain product knowledge and selling skills standards within the team.
  • Direct and monitor the execution of approved marketing plans and promotion campaigns.
  • Analyze sales reports and develop action plans based on findings.
  • Maintain timely communication with account managers and management.
  • Manage multiple priorities and resources to deliver high productivity and quality of work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Sciences degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 3+ years sales management experience in Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical's, Biologics or related experience for external candidates.
  • Internal candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of Commercial experience or 2 years of consistent sales success within Lundbeck.
  • Documented track record of sales success and financial management.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to develop, train, and provide feedback to account managers.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous CNS sales management experience.
  • Experience in calling on customers at various call points, including offices and hospitals.
  • Previous experience in marketing, sales training, or managed care account management.
  • Experience working with alliance partners and advocacy groups.
  • Experience in product launch or expansion within sales.
