About the position

The Assistant Professor position in Psychiatry Research at Baylor College of Medicine is designed for an Educational Faculty Member who will play a crucial role in the development of a new advanced degree in clinical psychology. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including curriculum exploration, program development, and academic leadership. The successful candidate will engage in market analysis to understand the landscape of psychology graduate programs, including Ph.D., Psy.D., and M.S. degrees, focusing on accreditation, structure, curriculum, and necessary resources. This position is integral to the educational mission of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the School of Health Professions, requiring collaboration with leadership and educational teams to design innovative and evidence-based curricula. Key duties include contributing to the strategic planning and execution of an accredited educational program, participating in educational committees and initiatives aimed at enhancing educational quality, and engaging in scholarly work related to medical education and psychology. The Assistant Professor will also be responsible for advancing knowledge in psychology, psychiatry, and behavioral sciences through research and collaboration with colleagues. Clinical excellence is expected, serving as a role model for learners in clinical settings, while staying current with advancements in psychology and medical education through conferences and continuing education activities. The role also involves developing effective teaching methods, supervising and mentoring learners, and providing guidance for assessments and evaluations at both the learner and program levels. This position is pivotal in contributing to the educational mission and fostering a supportive learning environment for students and trainees in the field of psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with leadership in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the School of Health Professions on program development.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the market for psychology graduate programs in terms of accreditation, structure, curriculum, and necessary resources.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of strategic planning for an accredited educational program.
  • Participates in educational committees and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. from APA (or equivalent) accredited program.
  • Experience in psychology education, preferably overseeing graduate student learning.
  • Licensed or license eligible in the State of Texas.
