About the position

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychological Services Specialist to join the team at Norristown State Hospital. This role is crucial for providing psychological services to individuals residing at the facility, ensuring that they receive the highest quality of care and therapeutic opportunities tailored to their individual recovery needs. As a Psychological Services Specialist, you will work independently while being an integral part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Your responsibilities will include direct service care to patients, addressing their psychological needs, and enhancing their quality of life through effective treatment strategies. You will also participate in facility and statewide work groups, contributing to broader initiatives aimed at improving mental health services. In this position, you will be expected to resolve routine obstacles that may arise in the course of providing care. For issues that are more complex and beyond your immediate scope, you will collaborate with the psychology director or supervisor to ensure that patients receive the necessary support. The role requires a strong commitment to helping a vulnerable population and making a positive impact on their lives. The work schedule is full-time, with hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and includes a 30-minute lunch break. Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological services to an identified caseload of individuals residing at Norristown State Hospital.
  • Function as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver high-quality treatment and therapeutic opportunities.
  • Address routine obstacles in patient care directly and collaborate with supervisors for more complex issues.
  • Participate in facility and statewide work groups as assigned to enhance service delivery and treatment outcomes.
  • Document patient progress and treatment plans, ensuring compliance with established protocols.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in a behavioral science, counseling education, rehabilitation, human development, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree will be considered eligible.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions as required by the position.
  • Meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement.
