About the position

The Psychologist I, Licensed at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is responsible for providing mental health evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents, and families. This role involves conducting psychological assessments, providing psychotherapy, and supervising psychology trainees. The psychologist will manage a caseload of patients, ensuring timely documentation and adherence to treatment protocols, while also contributing to educational presentations and training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents, and families.
  • Conduct psychological and developmental assessments as needed.
  • Provide individual and group supervision to pre- and postdoctoral psychology trainees.
  • Deliver didactic and community presentations.
  • Participate in staff and supervisor meetings to develop teaching and training programs.
  • Manage a defined caseload of patients and their families, including assessment and treatment planning.
  • Complete 22 hours per week of billed services, including monthly intakes and psychotherapy.
  • Increase the number of initial intake assessments to meet State and County requirements.
  • Complete required outcome measures on time and follow documentation requirements.
  • Document progress notes within 3 business days.

Requirements

  • Supervised professional experience providing therapy to a pediatric psychology population.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial aspects of commonly referred medical conditions.
  • Experience supervising trainees in a clinical setting.
  • Experience conducting psychological and developmental assessments.
  • Training in evidence-based psychological treatments.
  • Experience working with children with developmental disabilities.
  • Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D. in School, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • License in psychology in California.
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous consultation and liaison experience within a medical setting.
  • Bicultural and/or Bilingual abilities in languages such as Armenian, Cambodian, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
