About the position

The Institute of Living is seeking a full-time psychologist to join the Bone and Joint Institute (BJI) at Hartford Hospital. This role focuses on providing behavioral health services to adults, particularly those undergoing orthopedic and sport rehabilitation. The psychologist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance mental health support for patients, including student athletes, and will engage in program development and research opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health services to adults, including diagnostic assessment and evaluation of treatment needs of medical patients on site.
• Collaborate and consult with medical providers, offering brief and evidence-based treatments for behavioral and mental health issues.
• Support athletic teams and student athletes around behavioral health and performance optimization.
• Utilize screening measures and assessment tools effectively.
• Manage data including tracking symptoms and treatment outcomes.
• Engage in program development and quality improvement research.
• Develop and implement psychoeducational materials for use in medical and Campus-Care settings.
• Participate in team meetings, case management, and coordination, outreach and communication with outside providers.
• Maintain treatment records and ensure timely documentation.

Requirements

• Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology (PhD) or Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited institution.
• One year APA-approved internship in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Health Psychology.
• Licensed to practice Psychology in the State of Connecticut.
• Training and experience in clinical health psychology, integrated primary care, or other medical settings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-directed and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
