About the position

The Psychologist will function as a co-located member of Midtown Health Center's primary care team, including outpatient evaluation, consultation, and treatment for patients. The Clinical Psychologist will provide evidence-based psychological services (e.g. evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, and treatment) to patients within the organization using a bio-psychological approach in concert with other members of the patients' health care team for the purpose of preventing or eliminating symptomatic, maladaptive, or undesired behavior and/or facilitating adaptation to physical illness, accident, or injury.

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychological assessments to develop appropriate level of treatment in accordance with relevant ethical and legal standards.
  • Conducts and completes psychological and diagnostic testing to measure cognitive abilities, diagnosis of developmental and intellectual disabilities, and prepares written evaluation.
  • Conducts mental health screenings utilizing standardized instruments.
  • Provides psychotherapy to individuals, families, as well as groups.
  • Provides services appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients, as well as their families, in accordance with the principles of growth and development for infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric life cycles as per approved scope of practice.
  • Consults with and advises other health care team members on the methods of assisting patients and their families in overcoming social and emotional difficulties which may prevent effective health care.
  • Manages psychosocial aspects of chronic and acute diseases.
  • Facilitates access to other behavioral health services programs as indicated.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with care providers, patients, and their family members in order to efficiently address emergencies.
  • Conducts research and attends conferences to remain current on the latest treatments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA/CPA-accredited or equivalent doctoral program with an APA-CPA accredited or equivalent doctoral internship required.
  • At least two years of experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Experience in crisis intervention preferred.
  • Licensed or license-eligible as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Nebraska, or provisionally licensed in the state of Nebraska with the ability to obtain a license in 24 months required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to utilize own transportation for work purposes.
