About the position

The Psychologist position at Summit Behavioral Healthcare involves providing psychological services to patients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. The role includes conducting evaluations, administering psychological tests, and developing treatment plans. The psychologist will also provide individual and group therapy, participate in program development, and serve as a consultant on psychological matters within an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently provides psychological services through direct patient contact.
  • Conducts psychological and/or neuropsychological evaluations and assessments of patients.
  • Administers, scores, and interprets psychological tests and writes testing reports.
  • Reviews pre-admission and pre-treatment data, conducts interviews, and writes treatment plans.
  • Provides clinical support and instruction to graduate students and support staff.
  • Evaluates treatment plans developed by others and the quality of services rendered.
  • Assists supervisor in program development and conducts research on psychological treatment and assessment.
  • Organizes psychological services and programs with an emphasis on forensic issues.
  • Conducts psychotherapeutic sessions and provides advice and consultation to patients and their families.
  • Documents treatment and therapeutic contacts with patients in accordance with accrediting agency requirements.
  • Participates in program development and provides staff training and development opportunities.
  • Attends and participates as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provides psychological expertise in patient management and treatment planning.
  • Prepares written materials and presents staff development in-service training programs.
  • Provides clinical information and opinions to court systems through testimony.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in the state of Ohio.
  • Experience in conducting psychological assessments and providing therapy.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health, counseling, and rehabilitation techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in forensic psychology or working with criminal justice populations.
  • Familiarity with neuropsychological testing and assessment.
  • Training in evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
