About the position

The Psychology Department & Programs Coordinator at DePaul University is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Psychology Department, supervising staff, and collaborating with faculty and administrators. This role involves overseeing administrative tasks, course scheduling, faculty hiring, and budgetary matters, ensuring smooth departmental operations and support for academic programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Psychology Department in collaboration with the Chair.
  • Supervise full-time and part-time staff members.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and graduate students on departmental issues and special projects.
  • Assist with tenure and promotion reports and faculty annual review processes.
  • Generate quarterly course schedules in partnership with Program Directors and the Chair.
  • Assist with adjunct instructor hiring and recruitment.
  • Oversee department purchasing and supply orders.
  • Manage graduate assistantship funding and processes for approximately 50 graduate students.
  • Review doctoral scholarship payments with the Graduate Coordinator.
  • Assist the Department Chair with routine activities and special projects.
  • Conduct special analytical projects including financial and enrollment issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree desirable but not required.
  • Minimum of five years in an administrative level position with academic and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Initiative and creative problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other enterprise-wide systems is preferred.
  • High proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a higher education environment.
