About the position

The Psychology Program Manager at the US Veterans Health Administration is responsible for overseeing a multidisciplinary team that provides essential psychological services to veterans. This role involves direct supervision, program development, and the implementation of treatment strategies aimed at addressing the mental health needs of veterans, particularly those dealing with PTSD and readjustment issues. The manager will also engage in community outreach and collaboration with external organizations to enhance service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a multidisciplinary staff providing direct readjustment counseling to veterans.
  • Plan, develop, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate professional services rendered by subordinates.
  • Set guidelines and establish intervention strategies for individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Conduct Performance Based Interviews (PBI) for recruitment of qualified applicants.
  • Develop networks with veteran service organizations and mental health agencies to enhance service delivery.
  • Serve as a consultant on veterans' readjustment needs to external programs.
  • Create and implement outreach plans to increase market penetration of Vet Center services.
  • Ensure fiscal and budget management in compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Screen and assess veteran clients, develop treatment plans, and provide individual/group counseling.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level.
  • At least three years of experience as a professional psychologist, with one year at the GS-13 level.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with combat veterans and providing family counseling services.
  • Experience with veterans who have experienced military sexual trauma.
  • Skills in conducting psycho-social assessments and processing psychotherapy for trauma-related conditions.
