About the position
The Psychotherapist II position at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is part of the Project Heal trauma psychology program, which provides mental health services to children and families affected by traumatic events. The role involves delivering psychotherapeutic services, conducting assessments, and developing treatment plans for patients with complex needs. The position requires collaboration with team members to enhance service access and may involve both clinic-based and fieldwork depending on client needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide psychotherapeutic services for a caseload of patients with acutely complex needs.
- Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans for patients.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions for parents and children.
- Employ evidence-based psychological treatment interventions.
- Provide case management services as needed.
- Support partnerships to enhance service availability at CHLA and with external partners.
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years clinical experience with children, adolescents, and families.
- Training and experience in treating youth and families who have experienced traumatic events.
- Training in trauma-informed evidence-based practices (TF-CBT) preferred.
- Experience conducting intake assessments and evaluations of youth with trauma exposure.
- Experience leading group therapy with parents and children.
- Valid CA Driver's License and proof of insurance for field-based services.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience working in health care settings with children, adolescents, and families preferred.
