About the position

The PT AM Medication Technician at MBK Senior Living is responsible for administering medications to residents as prescribed by physicians, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations while providing exceptional customer service. This part-time role emphasizes building relationships with residents and supporting their daily living activities, all within a supportive and energetic community environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with their daily medications, treatments, and resident care as assigned.
  • Observe, verify, and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
  • Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reasons why.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, complete, and confidential records on resident medication and care.
  • Coordinate medication services with residents, pharmacy, and physicians, verifying dosages prior to dispensing.
  • Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills, preparing medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance.
  • Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting discrepancies to supervisors immediately.
  • Assist caregivers in their job duties and assume caregiver responsibilities when needed.
  • Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining their self-respect and confidentiality.
  • Assist residents in daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, and transportation.
  • Perform regular safety checks on residents and offer medication reminders.
  • Encourage residents to participate in daily activities and assist with community activities as required.
  • Chart and document appropriate information, communicating any observed changes in resident conditions to supervisors.
  • Ensure resident safety and comfort at all times, assisting in safety drills and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Age 18 or over, or have the proper work permit and work authorization documentation.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience handling medications preferred, but on-the-job training is available for candidates with the right attitude.
  • Background clearances as required by government regulations.
  • Complete a health screening and provide negative TB test results.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with people of different ages and backgrounds.
  • Must meet and maintain all state-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Must maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or senior living environment.
  • Certification as a Medication Technician or similar.
