About the position

The PT ATC Transition Coach at Sussex County Community College is responsible for supporting students in the Adult Transition Program, focusing on post-secondary and vocational support. The role involves assisting clients in overcoming barriers, setting goals, and guiding them in job tasks while providing direct instruction to students with disabilities using person-centered approaches.

Responsibilities

• Support students enrolled in the Adult Transition Program.
• Assist clients in discovering and overcoming barriers and setting goals.
• Guide students in learning to complete job tasks.
• Communicate with students to understand their goals and ambitions.
• Assess individual strengths and teach effective usage.
• Develop opportunities for exploration into vocational and post-secondary options.
• Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities.
• Coordinate opportunities for each student with faculty and staff.
• Provide coverage for the instructor when needed.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with students and adults with disabilities.
• Two or more years of experience in Supported Employment.
• Completion of The Boggs Center Employment Specialist Training 1-4 (must be obtained within the first 30 days if not current).
• Minimum of an Associate's degree; Bachelor's preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• In-depth knowledge of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Department of Developmental Disabilities fee for service.
• Certified Employment Support Professional Certificate (CESP).
