About the position

US Cargo, a subsidiary of Pitt Ohio, is seeking a part-time Dockworker for its Brook Park, OH terminal. This role involves sorting and distributing various goods, ensuring safe handling and transportation of freight, and maintaining a safe working environment. The position is part-time with a focus on operational efficiency and safety in the courier and small package transportation industry.

Responsibilities

• Sort and distribute boxes, bags, envelopes, cartons, and other goods on trucks or in the designated sort area of the terminal.
• Read tracking labels, manifests, bills of lading, or other shipping documents to determine the correct placement of freight.
• Scan all inbound and/or outbound freight.
• Load/unload freight on and off trucks using a forklift or by hand using a hand truck or pallet jack.
• Secure the safety of the freight to prevent loss or damage.
• Work in a safe manner to reduce personal risk of injury and risk to fellow employees.
• Report any injuries, accidents, or safety hazards immediately.
• Count, weigh, and/or record the number of pieces as needed.

Requirements

• Must be 17 years of age or older.
• Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
• Complete employment application and interview.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to read and write the English language.
• Demonstrate stable work history, good work ethic, dependability, and a positive attitude.
• Meet physical job demands, including the ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 70 lbs occasionally, and repetitively lift 20 to 30 lbs.
