About the position

The Physical Therapist position at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a part-time role focused on providing high-quality patient care in an inpatient setting. The therapist will evaluate, plan, and administer treatment techniques as prescribed by physicians, ensuring adherence to hospital standards. This role emphasizes collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and maintaining a professional environment that promotes patient dignity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, plans, and administers appropriate techniques of treatment as prescribed by a physician.
  • Administers patient treatments in a professional manner and within hospital standards.
  • Completes timely and thorough documentation.
  • Works directly with physicians, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, and other rehabilitation staff.
  • Maintains a professional team relationship with co-workers by being considerate of workloads and assisting with duties.
  • Communicates honestly and confronts issues in a private setting.
  • Consults with physicians regarding diagnostic results, if appropriate.
  • Delegates and supervises appropriate patient care duties performed by assistants and technicians.
  • Projects a positive image through high professional standards of conduct and appearance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of customers and other associates.
  • Completes all documentation in accordance with department practice, policy, and procedure.
  • Educates patients and/or their families in self-care, prevention, and ergonomics as appropriate.
  • Develops and implements treatment using appropriate techniques within physician's prescription.
  • Completes evaluation/progress/discharge notes in a timely fashion and within departmental guidelines.
  • Participates constructively in department inservices, meetings, and activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or related field.
  • Kansas Physical Therapist License.
  • BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Physical Therapy or related field.
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
  • 2 to 5 years of position-related experience.
