About the position

The Key Holder at JOANN plays a pivotal role in delivering a premium customer experience, ensuring that every customer feels inspired and welcomed in the store. The Key Holder is responsible for driving sales through advanced product knowledge and innovative merchandising techniques, while also ensuring accuracy at the cutting counter. This role involves assisting the Store Management team in leading store team members, providing coaching and support, and performing essential operational duties such as opening and closing the store, ensuring compliance with store policies, and finding creative ways to enhance business performance. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Key Holder is expected to create an exceptional in-store experience by engaging with customers, understanding their project needs, and guiding them to the right products. This includes utilizing JOANN's service model to greet customers, process transactions efficiently, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the sales floor. The Key Holder also plays a crucial role in promoting store activities, driving sales through product knowledge, and building strong customer relationships. By collaborating with the Store Management team, the Key Holder helps identify opportunities for business growth and assists in delegating tasks to team members, ensuring that all responsibilities are completed effectively and on time. The physical demands of the role require the Key Holder to be active throughout their shift, including standing, walking, lifting, and moving merchandise. The position requires a commitment to customer service and a passion for creativity, making JOANN a happy place for both customers and team members alike.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a premium customer experience by inspiring creativity within customers.
  • Drive sales through advanced product knowledge and innovative merchandising.
  • Assist the Store Management team in leading store team members by observing and coaching individuals.
  • Perform operational duties including opening and closing the store and ensuring compliance with store policies.
  • Engage with customers to understand their project needs and guide them to the desired products.
  • Process customer transactions efficiently and professionally at the cutting counter and cash register.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the sales floor.
  • Invite customers to participate in store activities such as Education Classes and Custom Framing.
  • Proactively drive sales through active selling techniques and building strong customer relationships.
  • Assist leadership in minimizing shrink by ensuring policy compliance and inventory management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience in a customer-centric environment required.
  • 2-3+ years of retail supervisory experience preferred.
